Moving from a 3300 square foot house into an RV of any size definitely requires downsizing. A lot of downsizing. Then once you think you’ve downsized enough, you need to downsize some more. And once you start moving into your RV, you figure out that you need to downsize even more, or figure out the best way to organize all the crap you think you need.
Being new to full time RV living, we’ve found some very useful and necessary items that help keep us organized as well as secure when we are rolling down the road at 70mph. I may or may not have purchased all of the items below, or they are either in my cart or on my Pinterest board.
On this page, I’ve organized them by living & kitchen area where I’m using them, or plan to use them, but obviously you can use many of the items wherever or however you choose.
RV Living & Kitchen Area Storage and Organization
I’m putting the living and kitchen areas together because in most RV’s, these 2 places flow into one another.
These over the door hanging storage pockets are not only super cute, but they are very functional. They can be wall mounted with an adhesive hook or hung over the door. Ideal for storing mail, sunglasses, scissors, pens, school or office supplies, makeup and beauty products, keys, etc. The rope is adjustable, so you can fit it almost anywhere in your RV. This is a 2 piece set!
These wall mounted hanging shoe rack 6 pack (also comes in 2 pk or 4 pk) are very handy for shoe storage in your RV or van. You can use these in your entry area so shoes don’t end up scattered on the floor. You can attach them around the bottom frame of your bed for out-of-the-way storage, or on the inside of your closet.
If you have an island in your kitchen area, or the end of a cabinet or cupboard will also work, these 2 pack Linen wall hanging storage boxes come in a variety of colors and patterns to fit just about any decor, and they are very functional. Store your remotes, glasses, keys, wallet, cups, magazines, mail, envelopes, stamps, kitchen utensils, etc.
One thing I’ve learned about RV wall storage and organization is, adhesive is the way to go!! These adhesive hanging baskets are ideal for storing lots of kitchen items like, spices, veggies, fruit, small jars, condiments that don’t require refrigeration, small snack packets or bars, etc. They are available in black or white, 2, 3 or 4 packs.
Reduce clutter and utilize the space underneath your cupboards with this adhesive paper towel holder.
Stackable is a must when it comes to storage and organization for your RV, tiny home, camper or van. This supreme stackable can organizer saves a ton of room in your pantry or cabinet. We’ve organized our cans by types of food; beans, tomatoes, etc. Get more than one, and stack them on top of one another for taller pantry or cabinet shelves.
Utilizing the inside of your doors and cabinets is genius when it comes to storage and organization for your RV. This Over the Door Organizer Holder stores sheet pans, muffin pans, cutting boards, etc.
Clear bins are ideal for organizing any area of your RV. They make it easy to see what’s inside, as well as hold items securely during travel. I love these Refrigerator Organizer bins for the fridge because they make it convenient to grab the items you want and secure foods during travel.
Clear bins also work great in the pantry and in your cabinets. I use clear bins for bowls, lids, cups, spices, oils, sauce or seasoning packets, etc.
This stuff comes in real handy for keeping things from sliding off or around. I use it on one of my counter tops where we store the Instant Pot, Crock Pot, Air Fryer and Keurig. The kitchen slide comes in enough to keep the appliances from falling off the counter, and this Drawer and Shelf liner keeps them from sliding or moving.
Clear bins with lids are a must for RV storage and organization. You can find a use for these Plastic Storage Bins with Lids in every area of your RV, camper, tiny home or van.
Add extra space to your pantry or cabinets with these stackable metal storage kitchen shelves. I use them for cups, bowls, plates, etc. Can also be used for storing food items.
Airtight food storage containers are a must for RV living. They not only help preserve your food, they will help keep the bugs out.
One of my favorite purchase for the RV is this Ziploc Bag organizer. Our RV has a drawer under the fridge where this fits perfectly! I just open the drawer and pull out the baggie I need. Or I can lift the organizer out of the drawer and take it to the picnic table for easy clean up after a nice meal.
There are tons of great ideas for RV storage and organization and I will be adding more pages organized by room to our website soon.
Very important: Be sure to measure the area you’re wanting to organize before purchasing.
